Senior Director, Clinical Operations Process Excellence & Learning

Are you ready to lead the charge in transforming clinical operations? As the Senior Director of Clinical Operations Process Excellence & Learning, you will play a pivotal role in setting the strategic direction for process improvement and training within Late Development Oncology (LDO). Your expertise will ensure that our studies are executed successfully, adhering to both internal and external standards. Operating in a highly matrixed environment, you'll engage with cross-functional teams to drive change and enhance quality across the enterprise. Are you prepared to make a significant impact?

Accountabilities
As the Senior Director, you will be accountable for shaping and deploying the Process Management strategy aligned with our portfolio goals. Your responsibilities will include identifying opportunities for process improvement, optimizing clinical trial delivery, and driving adherence throughout the department. Key areas of focus will include:

  • Aligning process strategy with end-to-end (E2E) planning.

  • Collaborating effectively across the enterprise to drive change.

  • Providing oversight to ensure processes and compliance efforts are aligned with quality standards and inspection readiness.

  • Shaping and leading the implementation of key functional activities in alignment with business objectives.

  • Collaborating with internal and external training vendors to ensure that programs align with organizational goals.

  • Leading the strategic development, review, and refinement of clinical processes to ensure efficiency and effectiveness.

  • Acting as a change agent to support effective uptake and adoption of new and revised processes.

  • Conducting gap analysis to ensure training and efficient processes are implemented.

  • Contributing to the review of new or amended Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and guidance documents.

  • Potentially managing direct reports, including Directors and Associate Directors, to support process, quality, and training initiatives.

Essential Skills/Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline, preferably in medical or biological science.

  • At least 10 years of global drug development leadership experience with progressive levels of responsibility.

  • Comprehensive knowledge of the clinical and pharmaceutical drug development process.

  • Demonstrable experience in clinical process improvements and high value initiatives.

  • Strong strategic influencing skills; ability to influence broadly within and outside the organization.

  • Proven problem-solving and issue management skills that are solution-focused.

  • Experience in leading delivery through collaboration with internal and external providers.

  • Team-oriented mindset.

  • Ability to lead, coordinate and prioritize multiple tasks and deliverables.

  • Proactive approach with a high degree of flexibility.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Strong negotiation and collaboration skills.

  • Well-developed interpersonal skills.

  • Change management expertise, actively seeking and championing more efficient, effective ways of working.

  • Line management experience.

Experience and understanding of the study leader role, including

  • Use of project management techniques in complex projects, including resourcing and financial management.

  • Understanding of requirements for external contracts.

  • Oversight of external providers.

Desirable Skills/Experience

  • Late Oncology experience.

  • Experience in process writing and generation.

  • Experience leading and implementing change management strategies.

  • Adult learning and training expertise.

  • Additional line management experience.
